Local Student Attends Statewide Library Conference

























Tyler Aguero, son of Mr. and Mrs. Octavino Aguero, Jr., recently attended the Texas Library Association’s Annual Conference held in Houston, Texas. The fourth grader at Reagan County Elementary School was chosen from TLA’s District 1 to present the Texas Bluebonnet Award to the winning author and illustrator for this year’s Texas Bluebonnet Award. Ten youth representatives, one from each of TLA’s 10 districts, were chosen to represent the approximately 152,000 third through sixth graders who voted for their favorite Bluebonnet book. This year’s winning book is One Potato, Two Potato, written by Cynthia DeFelice and illustrated by Andrea U’Ren. The Texas Bluebonnet Award was presented at the Annual Bluebonnet Luncheon attended by approximately two thousand librarians from across the state. Tyler was accompanied by his parents and his librarian from Reagan County Elementary School, Sharon Plagens. Tyler is pictured above at the Hilton Americas Hotel in Houston with Ms. DeFelice and Ms. U’Ren.
